|National English Honor Society||Mrs. Hoffacker||September 22nd - October 20th - November 17th - January 19th - February 23rd - March 23rd - April 13th or 20th||The National English Honor Society (NEHS), founded and sponsored by Sigma Tau Delta, is the only international organization exclusively for secondary students and faculty who, in the field of English, merit special note for past and current accomplishments. Sunlake High School's Chapter Carpe Diem! recognizes juniors and seniors who excel in English and who maintain a 3.5 gpa in English Honors.||Requirements for membership:|
1) Attend at least seven monthly meetings via Zoom until further notice (Attendance will be taken by Rebecca Walker our secretary.)
2) Pay $20.00 membership fee at the beginning of the year (includes NEHS dues and an NEHS T-shirt)
Pay on Acorn via the Pay Student Fees Link (Senior cords will be purchased at the end of the year.)
3) Community Service: Commit to four hours for Semester one and five hours for Semester two in one of the following areas:
1) Read to Kindergarten or First Grade students at Oakstead Elementary School (training provided)
2) Tutor students during lunch at SLHS and assist them with their writing skills (training provided)
3) We will work with MSOL Students to ensure that they can fulfill this requirement.
4) Maintain a 3.0 GPA overall on a 4.0 Scale
5) Maintain a 3.5 weighted GPA in English Honors or AP, ENC 1101or ENC 1102
6) Complete at least one semester at SLHS and two semesters of English Honors prior to induction
7) Be a Junior or a Senior
8) Submit a membership invitation to Mrs. Hoffacker by Friday September 11, 2020

As a Total Force partner and Auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, Civil Air Patrol is there to search for and find the lost, provide comfort in times of disaster and work to keep the homeland safe. Promoting aviation, engineering and medical fields through aerospace/STEM education and helping shape future leaders through CAP’s cadet program.
Now, Sunlake High School is proud to have our own Cadet Squadron. This program is open to all students at Sunlake.
