Sunlake High School Yearbook Earns National Recognition for Second Consecutive Year

Sunlake High School is proud to announce that its award winning yearbook staff, The Talon, has once again been honored with the Walsworth Gallery of Excellence Award, marking the second year in a row this recognition has been earned. The Gallery of Excellence represents the highest standard in scholastic journalism, showcasing yearbooks that serve as teaching tools for programs across the nation. Selected publications are featured at workshops, training events, and in a variety of educational resources, providing student journalists and advisers with real world examples of exceptional work. Yearbooks included in the Gallery of Excellence are studied for their innovative covers, compelling spreads, strong photography, and thoughtful coverage approaches. The Talon stands among the best, demonstrating a commitment to storytelling, creativity, and journalistic integrity that sets a strong example for other programs. In addition to being showcased at professional development events, Gallery of Excellence yearbooks are highlighted in nationally distributed resources such as the Possibilities book, the Yearbook Suite curriculum, and Idea File magazine. Through these platforms, the outstanding work produced by Sunlake students helps inspire and guide yearbook staffs nationwide toward higher levels of achievement.

While this recognition celebrates the finished product, the true impact lies in the student experience behind the scenes. From meeting strict deadlines to refining their work and collaborating as a team, The Talon staff has developed essential skills that extend far beyond the classroom. These experiences foster leadership, time management, communication, and creative problem solving, all of which will serve these students well into their futures. Congratulations to The Talon staff and advisers on this remarkable accomplishment. Sunlake High School celebrates your continued excellence and the lasting impact of your work.
